About this Blog

Centuries after the Quran was written, Arabic calligraphy found its geometric perfection.

Well into the twentieth century, calligraphers scribed masterpieces of Arabic Calligraphy by hand. Modern advancements in computer technologies and graphics have led to a flourishing of styles and techniques, creating an entirely new dimension of an ancient art form.

I feel honoured to launch this blog, a modest attempt to display some of my calligraphy.

If you like any of the artwork displayed here, please feel free to use it. I do request, however, that you notify me via email. Thank you.

All comments, positive and negative, are welcome.

Innallaha M'allazina (إن الله مع الذين اتقوا والذين هم محسنون) Sura Nahl : 128

Salaam,

Posting today this composition which contains the last ayat from Sura Nahl.
This ayat is inscribed on Rukn-e-Mukhallaq in Al-Jame-al-Aqmar in Qahera in Kufi khat.

This is my first attempt in posting a colored composition.

Some of the graphics used in this composition are taken from internet.

Salaam.

Allaho Akbar (الله اكبر)

Salaam.

In the above image "Allaho Akbar" is written 10 times. The words are rotated to achieve the flower like shape. This feature of rotating the letters and making patterns out of them sets the Arabic Calligraphy apart from all writing systems.

Salaam.

Bismillah 02 (بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم)

Salaam.
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم بخط النستعليق
The "Nastaleeq" Script is one of the most beautiful form of Arabic Calligraphy.
As it is apparent from the image above, the cursive nature of "Nastaleeq", and the balance between thick and thin strokes create a marvelous visual experience for the viewer.

The bottom to top flow of writing is one of the widely used in "Nastaleeq".

Salaam.
